The API was created to allow users and partners to easily interact with formspring.me data and functionality.  We want to make it easy to build applications powered by formspring.me, pull content into other clients and services, or integrate social Q&A with external websites.  The API is free to use, but is subject to our API Guidelines and Terms of Service.

The API is currently limited to a select group of users and partners right now.  We’ll eventually make it available to the general public, but for not the best way to get access is to register here.  You’re more likely to get access if you have a pretty compelling application you want to build and ask really nicely.

Getting Started

We provide a REST-like API that:

• Uses the endpoint: http://beta-api.formspring.me
• Returns JSON or XML formats
• Tries to return appropriate response codes
• Uses OAuth for methods that require authentication
• Rate-limits requests
• Requires either GET or POST, depending on the method
